A short insight in the world of ropeways

The evolution of ropeways

Rope has been the answer to man's transport problems for millennia. Yet it was not until the middle of the 19th century that the modern ropeway was born. With these early ropeways there was a clear distinction between ropeways for passenger transport exclusively on the ground and goods transport on the ground or in the air.

Types of ropeways

LEITNER systems are high quality, sustainable, high-tech solutions with ambitious designs. After all, ropeways and lifts have long since ceased to be just a means of transportation from the valley to the pistes. Each LEITNER ropeway is unique and tailor-made. Here we explain which general types of ropeways are available.

Elements of ropeways

Ropeways comprise a number of difference components:  line, drive, vehicles, control system, garaging system and stations. Find out more about the individual elements of a ropeway system here.

Construction of ropeways

By preassembling ropeway components, entire ropeway systems can be completed incredibly quickly - even in just a few months. A ropeway system is constructed in a number of different phases.
