GD8 Expo Alt
The ropeway for the EXPO 2008 in Zaragoza (ES)

GD8 Expo Alt

The 8-seater gondola “Expo Alt” provided visitors to the Expo with truly panoramic views as they crossed the Ebro on the exhilarating ride from the railway station to the exhibition site. The two gondola stations, which are covered in a brilliant metal skin, look like blocks of ice and were designed by the famous Madrid-based architect Ignacio Vicens, who was also behind the new Madrid Opera House. In the terminal building at the main gate, LEITNER – in collaboration with Reinhold Messner – presented the “World of Ice” exhibition with an exciting interplay of art and engineering. The gondola lift has transported 1 million passengers within 3 months.
