In the Aosta Valley, a continuous ropeway link is currently being created in the resort of Pila from the town to the skiing area. The innovative solution is based on two new 10-passenger gondola lifts starting in Pila, running through the middle station at Gorraz to the top station at Couis, where it reaches the Stella del Couis alpine hut at an altitude in excess of 2,700 meters above sea level. Construction of the lower section starting in Pila is set to begin in 2025, while the upper part of the ropeway from Couis– the new GD10 “Couis 1” – is already in operation. The system features Premium Cabins Diamond EVO and is capable of transporting 2,400 passengers per hour at a speed of 6 m/s. Coupled with the 8-passenger gondola lifts from Aosta to Pila, visitors using the two new 10-passenger gondola lifts can negotiate a height difference of 2,100 meters over a total length of more than 8.5 kilometers in roughly 30 minutes. The project marks a significant step forward in convenient and eco-friendly mobility in this unique mountain region.
