Italian skiing areas rely on LEITNER

New ropeways ensure greater comfort and efficiency

As the 2024/25 winter season kicks off, eight Italian skiing areas are relying on LEITNER’s state-of-the-art ropeway technology. Thanks to this extensive investment drive, these destinations can offer their guests even greater comfort, safety, and energy efficiency.

Aosta Valley: Pila and Cervinia

  • “GD10 Couis-Platta” (Pila): this new 10-seater gondola lift with Premium Diamond EVO cabins connects the Couis top station with the Stella del Couis mountain hut at 2,700 metres above sea level. Up to 2,400 people can be transported per hour at a speed of six metres per second. Together with the two existing gondola lifts and another ropeway to be built next year, it will provide a continuous connection from Aosta to the skiing area in the future.
  • “CD6C Lago Goillet” (Cervinia): a modern, detachable 6-seater chairlift with protective hoods, seat heating, and individual footrests. With a capacity of up to 2,400 people per hour, it sets new standards and brings a new level of modernity and comfort to the Matterhorn Ski Paradise.

Dolomites: Drei Zinnen Dolomites, San Martino di Castrozza, Arabba/Marmolada, Alta Badia

  • “CD6C Porzen” Drei Zinnen in the Dolomites: this new 6-seater chairlift with protective hoods, individual footrests, premium padding, and seat heating provides access to a varied resort with the Kids Ski Cross course, toboggan runs, and snowshoeing trails.
  • “GD10 Valcigolera” San Martino di Castrozza: a modern 10-seater gondola lift that replaces an old 2-seater chairlift. The ropeway covers an altitude difference of 467 metres over a 1,300-metre-long route, shortening the journey time to 3.5 minutes, and is powered by renewable energy.
  • “CD6 Antercrëp” Arabba/Marmolada: this detachable 6-seater chairlift replaces a 2-seater chairlift that is over 40 years old. It offers individual footrests and comfort padding, and transports up to 1,800 people per hour amid breathtaking views of the Marmolada.
  • “CD6 Braia Fraida” Alta Badia: a modern 6-seater chairlift with premium padding, individual footrests, and seat heating. It replaces a facility that was more than 30 years old and is also equipped for bike transport in summer. The ropeway has 70 Premium Chairs EVO and can transport up to 2,800 people per hour.

Carezza: new platter lift for transport in optimal conditions

  • This installation replaces one from 1995 and offers state-of-the-art technology for skiers and snowboarders. The new facility is located near the golf club on the Karerpass.

Gitschberg (Jochtal): Italy’s first chairlift with LeitPilot

  • Our LeitPilot technology is being used on chairlifts in Italy for the first time on the “CD6 Steinermandl”. This season, the new chairlift is using automated monitoring of the loading and unloading area to support manual station management as a test run.
The modern facility features seat heating, premium padding, and individual footrests and takes passengers up to the skiing area at 2,100 metres above sea level, halving the journey time.
