The San Martino di Castrozza skiing area, nestled in the Dolomites with breathtaking views of the Pale di San Martino, has commissioned a new 10-passenger gondola lift named “Valcigolera” to replace an old 2-seater chairlift.
The ropeway connects the mountain hut of the same name with the Cima Tognola and shortens the journey to the summit, at just under 2,400 metres, from ten to three and a half minutes. The system is powered by renewable
energy, making it particularly efficient. It is one of four LEITNER ropeways that have been installed in the skiing area in the past ten years. Up to 1,500 passengers per hour can be transported in modern cabins along the 1,300-meter route, which ascends 467 meters of altitude.
