LeitPilot for chairlifts is on the way to full automation
While LeitPilot, LEITNER's new technological solution for automated station operation is already successfully in use on the first gondola lift installations, the development for application on chairlifts is also progressing rapidly. Here, it is necessary to feed the AIbased application with sufficient data to create the basis for operation in the mountain station as an assistance system.
On the path to a final solution, LEITNER is relying on a 5-step plan that follows the development stages familiar similar to that of autonomous cars. This starts with the operation being run parallel to that of the standard control by the operating personnel, on through to partial, high, and full automation and eventually to autonomous operation.
In stage 3, the system supports operators in the mountain and valley stations. From stage 4 onwards, the chairlift mountain station can be operated completely autonomously; staff no longer need to be present in the station but must be able to reach it within a specified time in the event of a malfunction. From this stage onwards, there are also no restrictions with regard to different operating situations. This also makes the efficient use of human resources in ski resorts a reality.
While staff intervention is initially still required throughout the process, this necessity decreases continuously up to level 5 and is ultimately no longer a requirement. The intelligent LeitPilot technology is designed for both new installations and for retrofitting existing lifts.
